Paw Hub Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-31b · Ontario, Canada
This policy explains what personal information Paw Hub collects when you use paw-hub.co, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers guests, hosts, owners who book pet sitting, pet waste removal, dog walking or grooming, sitters, vendors, walkers, groomers and visitors. Please read it with our Terms of Service.
1. Who is responsible
- Paw Hub runs paw-hub.co, a marketplace for booking private yards by the hour, pet sitting, pet waste removal, dog walking and grooming, for dogs. Paw Hub is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
- We follow Canada's private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
- Our Privacy Officer handles privacy questions and requests at kfraidine@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Your account
- Your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also get your Google account name, a link to your Google profile photo, and whether Google has verified your email. If you sign in with Apple, we get the name you choose to give and the email address you choose to share: your own, or a private relay address Apple creates for Paw Hub and forwards to you. Apple gives us no photo.
- Your first name, if you give one when you sign up. It is optional, and it is what a host sees when you book their yard. You can leave it blank.
- The language you use Paw Hub in, English or French. It starts as the language of the page you made your account on, and changes when you choose the other while signed in. We keep it so that we can write to you in your language.
- If you use an email address and password, your password is handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service. Paw Hub's own database doesn't store it.
- If you sign up with a password, we ask you to confirm your email before you add a card. Firebase, our sign-in provider, sends that email.
- However you sign in, you can ask to reset your password: Firebase Authentication receives the address you enter and emails a link to it if an account uses it, and you choose the new password on a Firebase page.
- If you ask for a sign-in link, we keep the email address you enter, your first name if you give one, the language of the page, the page to take you to afterwards, when each link was asked for and whether it was used, and a scrambled copy of each link's code. We delete them about an hour after the last link for that address was asked for. Using a link signs you in, or makes your account if that address has none.
- Details about your account: how you sign in, when you joined, whether you're a host or an administrator, and, if your account has been banned, when and why.
If you host
- Your listing: its title, description, city, size, fencing, what dogs may see or hear, hazards, rules, amenities, prices, extras, availability and photos.
- Private yard details: the street address, unit, postal code and access instructions, and the exact map coordinates we get by sending the address to Google's geocoding service when you submit the listing, and again if you change the address afterwards.
- Where your listings have been: we keep the exact coordinates of every place where one of your yards, your sitter profile, your walker profile or your groomer profile has been (up to ten places for each), each with the one approximate location chosen for it. Every listing of yours that comes to a place after the first uses that one location, so moving back to a place, or adding a second yard, a sitter profile, a walker profile or a groomer profile at your home, adds no second location for it. Publishing a second approximate location for the same place would make that place easier to find precisely, which is what the approximate location exists to prevent. These coordinates are never shown to anyone.
- Payout details: your Stripe account reference, whether payouts are set up, what Stripe says it still needs from you, your payout schedule, any special fee arrangement, and records of your payouts. Stripe collects your identity and bank details on its own pages, and Paw Hub doesn't receive them. We also keep a record of the payout emails we send you (a change to your payout bank account, a payout that was returned, what Stripe asks of you, and reminders that money is waiting for you), so that each goes once: what it was about and when a send last failed; for reminders, also when we last sent one, how many you've had, how many sends in a row failed, when we last found no money waiting, and whether our staff have stopped them.
If you offer pet sitting
- Your sitter profile: its headline and description, your years of experience and your skills, your photos of you and your home, the services you offer with their prices (including for each extra dog, on holiday dates and for puppies) and limits (how many dogs, which sizes, whether puppies, and for drop-in visits how long and how many a day), how far you travel for house sitting and drop-in visits, the days of the week you offer each service and the dates you're away, its ratings, its status, our staff's notes on it, and, if our staff put it live without a check, that they did, when and who.
- If you offer boarding or day care, facts about your home: whether it is a house, an apartment or something else; whether it has a fenced yard; whether it is smoke-free; whether dogs may go on furniture and beds; how many dogs you have, and whether you have cats or caged pets; how often dogs get a potty break; and whether you take one owner's dogs at a time.
- Whether children live in your home, by age band only: none, or any of under 6, 6 to 12 and over 12. We never ask for children's names or ages, or anything else about the people in your home.
- Your home's street address, unit, city, province and postal code, how owners arrive, and the exact map coordinates we get by sending the address to Google's geocoding service when you send your profile for review, and again if you send it from a new address. These are kept privately, as a yard's are.
- For each day, the stays you've accepted on it, with their service, how many dogs and, for drop-in visits, how many visits, so that no day takes more than your limits.
If you offer pet waste removal
- Your vendor profile: your business's name, whether you offer it as an individual or a company, its description, the areas you serve (by the first three characters of their postal codes), the days you work, how often you visit, your prices, how you dispose of waste, how you clean your tools, whether and when you pause in winter, and its ratings; its status and when it changed (sent for review, approved, paused, taken off the site), and, if our staff approved it without a check, that they did, when and who.
- If you give it, your insurance: the insurer, the amount and the date it ends, and the certificate you upload, with when our staff checked it and, if we stopped saying it was checked before it ended, why. It's optional, and only our staff see them; while a certificate our staff have checked is current, your page says only that your insurance has been checked.
- Your acceptance of the vendor terms when you send your profile for review: when, and which version.
- Your business's number from the Canada Revenue Agency, in full with its program account (such as 123456789 RT0001): needed before we approve the profile of a company, and optional otherwise. Only you and our staff see it.
- Our staff's notes on your profile.
- The visits you do: when you said you were on your way, when you marked each done, and the photo of the closed gate you take at each.
- We don't ask for your own address. Stripe collects your identity and bank details on its own pages, as it does for hosts.
If you offer dog walking
- Your walker profile: its headline and description, your years of experience and your skills, your profile photo, your prices, how many dogs you take on a walk and which sizes, whether you take puppies, how far from home you walk, the days and hours you take walks, how many walks a day, the dates you're away, and its ratings.
- Your full name, for the agreement of each walk plan. Our staff see it, and so does an owner, in the agreement of a walk plan they request with you.
- Your home's street address, unit and postal code, and the exact map coordinates we get by sending the address to Google's geocoding service when you send your profile for review, and again if you send it from a new address. These are kept privately, as a sitter's are, and shown to no one but you and our staff.
- Your acceptance of section 13 of our Terms when you send your profile for review: when, and which version.
- The walks you've accepted, by weekday or date, time and length, so that no two of them overlap. A weekly plan's walks stay on this list while the plan lasts; walks that have passed, and the walks of a plan that has ended, are removed the next time the list changes.
- Our staff's notes on your profile.
- Each walk you do: when you pressed Start and End, the photo you took, the pee and poo ticks, and your note.
- Stripe collects your identity and bank details on its own pages, as it does for hosts.
If you offer grooming
- Your groomer profile: its headline and description, your years of grooming other people's dogs and your skills, your profile photo and your portfolio photos, where you groom (at your place, as a salon or a home studio; at owners' homes, in a van or in the home), what you need at an owner's home, how far you travel, the services you offer with their prices for each size and coat, your add-ons and their prices, how long each service takes you for each size, the sizes you take, how many dogs of one household you take on a groom, whether you take puppies, the days and hours you take appointments, the dates you're away, how often you suggest a groom, and its ratings.
- Your profile's status: when you sent it for review, when our staff approved it and when it first went live, and, if it was taken off the site, when, and whether by our staff or because of a ban.
- Your full name, for the agreement of each groom. Our staff see it, and so does an owner, in the agreement of a groom they request with you.
- Your place's street address, unit and postal code, or, if you only travel, those of the address you set out from, and the exact map coordinates we get by sending the address to Google's geocoding service when you send your profile for review, and again if you send it from a new address. These are kept privately, as a sitter's are. Only you and our staff see them, and, for your place, an owner once you accept their groom there, on its page.
- The grooms you've accepted, by date and start and end time, so that no two of them overlap. A groom is removed from this list once it has passed or is cancelled, the next time the list changes.
- Our staff's notes on your profile.
- Each groom you do: when you marked it done, a no-show or stopped, and why you stopped it; any reduction you gave, its amount and why; the photo of the dogs after the groom and your note.
- Stripe collects your identity and bank details on its own pages, as it does for hosts.
Identity and record checks, if you offer pet sitting, pet waste removal, dog walking or grooming
- To check a sitter's identity and criminal record, we may ask Certn, a screening company, to invite you, and give it your email address and the language you use Paw Hub in. Certn collects what it needs for the checks directly from you, under its own privacy policy, and asks for your written consent to each check. Paw Hub doesn't receive copies of your ID.
- From Certn we keep when the checks were ordered, sent, completed and ended, Certn's references for them, and the link to its invitation while it is open. Once you have agreed to share the results with us, we keep when you agreed and whether each check came back clear or needs a closer look, and our staff may read the results in Certn's system to decide on your profile, but we don't copy the report into our own records. We keep our staff's decision too: what it was, who made it and when.
- Our staff check walkers, groomers, the person who holds a vendor's account, and a sitter Certn doesn't check, by hand: you show them your ID and a police record check, and they give both back. We keep the date they checked your ID, the date of the police record check and which kind it was (a criminal record check, one with judicial matters, or a vulnerable sector check), which of our staff checked, and at most a short note of theirs. We never keep a copy, a photo or a number from either document. If we withdraw a check made by hand, we keep that we did, when, and who did.
Bookings and payments
- Each booking: the yard, date and time, length, number of dogs, extras, price breakdown, status, and any cancellation, refund and host payout details.
- If you book pet sitting or grooming, your dogs' profiles: each dog's name, breed, weight band, birth month, sex, whether it is spayed or neutered, its medications, feeding and potty routine, how it is with dogs, children and cats, its vet's name and phone number, and any notes you add. You can change or delete them at any time.
- Each request and stay: the sitter, the service, the times it starts and ends, for drop-in visits how many a day and how long, the dogs in it and their profiles as they were when you sent it, your note, the price breakdown, when it expires, when and how the sitter answered, whether you withdrew it or sent a new one in its place, whether your card was authorized, charged or released, how and why it ended, and any cancellation, refund and payout details.
- For house sitting and drop-in visits, the address of the home, kept privately with the stay. We send it once to Google's geocoding service to work out roughly how far it is from the sitter, and keep that distance in whole kilometres, not the map coordinates.
- The statements you confirm about your dogs and your acceptance of the Guest Waiver, the Pet Sitting Waiver, the Dog Walking Waiver or the Grooming Waiver, with the time and the waiver version. We don't collect your dogs' vaccination records. For a yard, we don't collect your dogs' names or breeds either; for pet sitting and grooming, your dogs' profiles hold them (above).
- Your latest acceptance of all three statements, noted on your account: which acceptance record it was, when, and the versions of the waiver and the statements. If you later confirm with one box that those statements still hold, we record that confirmation, which wording that box used, and the acceptance it refers to.
- A note for the host, if you write one at checkout (up to 280 characters). That yard's host sees it once your visit is paid, and it stays with the booking, like the booking's other details. We also keep, on your account, the last note you sent with a reservation at each yard, paid or not, to offer it again when you book that yard; empty the box before your next reservation there and we forget it.
- A waiver acceptance record for each reservation, each request for pet sitting, each request for dog walking and each request for grooming, with your account, the booking, the waiver version, the province, the time, your IP address and your browser's user agent (a short description of your browser and device). We create it when you reserve, even if you don't go on to pay.
- Payment information from Stripe: reference numbers for payments, refunds and host transfers, and whether a payment went through. Stripe collects your card details in its own form, and Paw Hub never receives or stores your full card number. We also keep a ledger of payments, refunds, fees and payouts.
- To stop stolen cards being tried on Paw Hub, we count how many payments are started from each network address in an hour. We keep the count under a scrambled copy of the address and delete it within two hours.
- If the bank that issued a card tells us a payment may be fraud, we note that on the booking.
- If you join a membership: your plan, its status, its renewal date and your Stripe customer reference.
- A record of each email we send about a pet sitting request or stay, a pet waste removal series or visit, a walk plan or a week of walks, a groom, a Shop order, a vendor's insurance certificate or a sitter's checks: which email it was and who it was for (you, the other person, or our staff), whether it was sent or was no longer needed, is still being tried or was given up on, how many times we've tried, and when. For a yard visit we record when we sent its confirmation and its reminder, and keep the same record of the emails telling you and its host that it was cancelled and asking you to review it; and for any booking, the same record of the email telling its host there will be no payout. With a copy of an agreement, we also record that agreement's version, and with a reminder to book a groom again that we didn't send, why (for example, that you had turned reminders off). These records hold no email address and no copy of the email.
If you book pet waste removal
- Each series: the vendor, how often, the day or days of the week, the week you asked to start and the date of the first visit, the vendor's winter dates and their words on how waste is disposed of and how tools are cleaned, as they were when you sent the request, which of your dogs' profiles you included and how many dogs, your yard's size, your note, the town and the first three characters of its postal code, the price you agreed (the vendor's price, the booking fee, our commission, and your plan when you sent the request), a new price waiting for your answer, when you accepted one or a lower one applied, its status, when it was requested and accepted, or declined, withdrawn or lapsed, why a pause began and the date it runs until, when the vendor said they were on their way to each visit, the last visit that still goes ahead after a pause or an end, when it ended, who ended it and why, if your card was removed at Stripe, when, and, if you cancelled by telling the vendor or us, when you told them and who recorded it.
- Your full name, for the agreement; the version of the agreement you accepted, with your part of it in its words; when you accepted it; when we emailed it to you; and, for a card you give a series later, when, and under which version, you accepted the authorization to charge it.
- The address of the yard (street, unit, town and postal code), how to get in, any gate or lockbox code, where your dogs will be during visits, anything in the yard to watch for, and anything you tell the vendor about your dogs. We keep them privately, apart from the series.
- The dates you skip and the date a pause runs until, which can show when you're away, the vendor's skips with the reason they chose, and the dates skipped while a payment was outstanding.
- Each visit: its date, when the vendor marked it done, its price, whether the charge went through and, if it didn't, the codes Stripe gave for why, any problem you reported (its kind and your note) and our answer, any refund and payout details, and, for a visit left unpaid, how we settled it.
- A photo of your gate, closed, taken by the vendor at each visit. The vendor's browser usually shrinks it and removes the location data a phone camera adds before it is sent; either way, our server resizes it and keeps none of that data. Vendors are asked to photograph only the gate, but a photo can show more.
- Stripe's references for your customer record and for the card you save for a series, or give it later, so that each visit can be charged when it's done.
- The postal code you search with is used to find vendors and to centre the map. It isn't saved in our database: a whole postal code is sent to Google to place it on the map, and that point is kept for 30 days with nothing about who searched.
If you book dog walking
- Each walk plan: the walker; whether it is walks on dates you chose or the same walks every week; your walks (their dates or weekdays, start times and lengths) and the date of the first; the dogs on it, with a copy of each one's name, size and whether it is a puppy as they were when you sent the request; your note; the town, and roughly how far it is from the walker; the prices you agreed (the walker's prices, the booking fee, and your plan when you sent the request); its status; when it was requested and accepted; each change to your weekly walks; when it ended, who ended it and why, and, if you ended it by telling the walker or us, when you told them and who recorded it.
- Your full name, for the agreement; the versions of the agreement and of the Dog Walking Waiver you accepted, with your part of the agreement in its words; when you accepted them; when we emailed the agreement to you, and each updated copy; and, for a card you give a plan later, when you accepted the authorization to charge it.
- Your home's address (street, unit, town and postal code), whose postal code we send to Google's geocoding service to work out roughly how far it is from the walker (we keep that distance, not the map coordinates); your access note (how the walker gets in, such as where a key is, a lockbox or door code, or a buzzer); where the leash and bags are; and anything else you tell the walker about your home. We keep them privately, apart from the plan.
- The times of your walks and the walks you skip, which can show when you're usually out.
- Each week of walks: each walk's date, time, length and status, its price lines, whether the week's charge went through and, if it didn't, the codes Stripe gave for why, each walk refunded and why, any problem you reported (its kind and your note) and our answer, and payout details.
- Each walk's report: when the walker pressed Start and End, the pee and poo ticks, the walker's note, and a photo from the walk. The walker's browser shrinks the photo and removes the location data a phone camera adds before it's sent, and we resize it again. Walkers are asked to photograph only your dogs, but a photo can show more, such as people, a street or a house. We don't record where a walk goes.
- Stripe's references for your customer record and for the card you save for a plan, or give it later, so that each week can be charged before its walks.
- The postal code or town you search with is used to find walkers and to centre the map. It isn't saved in our database: it is sent to Google to place it on the map, and that point is kept for 30 days with nothing about who searched.
If you book grooming
- Each groom: the groomer; whether it is at their place or at your home, and, at your home, in their van or inside; the date and its start and end times; the dogs on it, with a copy of each one's profile as it was when you sent the request; for each dog, its size, its coat (short, long or complex), how matted it is (none, some or a lot), your answer for a matted coat (shave it short, or ask me first), its service and add-ons, and their minutes and prices; your note; for a groom at your home, the town and roughly how far it is from the groomer; the prices you agreed (the groomer's prices, the booking fee, our commission, and your plan when you sent the request); its status; when it was requested, accepted or declined, withdrawn, or when it lapsed or expired; whether your card was authorized, charged or released; a no-show and when it was marked; when it ended, who ended it and why; and any cancellation, refund and payout details, including a reduction or a stopped groom and the groomer's reason.
- Your full name, for the agreement; the versions of the agreement and of the Grooming Waiver you accepted, with your part of the agreement in its words; when you accepted them; and when we emailed the agreement to you.
- For a groom at your home: your address (street, unit, town and postal code), whose postal code we send to Google's geocoding service to work out roughly how far it is from the groomer (we keep that distance, not the map coordinates), and your note on how the groomer gets there and where they set up (such as parking for a van, a buzzer, or the water and outlet they'll use). We keep them privately, apart from the groom.
- The groom's report: when the groomer marked it done, the photo of your dogs after the groom, and the groomer's note. The groomer's browser usually shrinks the photo and removes the location data a phone camera adds before it is sent; either way, our server resizes it and keeps none of that data. Groomers are asked to photograph only your dogs, but a photo can show more, such as a person or the inside of a home.
- Any problem you report about a groom (its kind and your note) and our answer.
- Whether you want our reminders to book a groom again: your choice, when you made it, and whether you made it with the link in a reminder or on your account page; and when we sent you each reminder, so that each groom has one.
- The postal code or town you search with is used to find groomers and to centre the map. It isn't saved in our database: it is sent to Google to place it on the map, and that point is kept for 30 days with nothing about who searched.
Paw Points
- How many Paw Points you hold, and a record of each time a booking earned points or had them taken back: the booking, the number of points, your balance afterwards, when, and, if they were taken back, whether that was for a refund or a dispute.
- A record of the welcome points added to your account: the number of points, your balance afterwards, and when.
- A record of the points each paid month of your membership added, or had taken back: your membership plan, Stripe's reference for that month's invoice, the number of points, your balance afterwards, when, and, if they were taken back, whether that was for a refund or a dispute. A month whose payment is refunded, or lost to a dispute, before its points are added may leave the same record, with no plan and no points.
- With each record of a booking's points, and on each booking that can earn points: what the points were worked out from — the price, the rate, and your membership plan at the time, if you had one. The booking also notes what became of its points, and when.
- A record of each time an order in the Shop spent points, or returned them because the order wasn't completed, was cancelled or came back: the order, the number of points, your balance afterwards, and when.
The Shop
- If you order from the Shop: what you ordered and when, the Paw Points it cost, whether it is picked up or shipped, and what became of it — picked up, shipped (with any tracking number or note we add for you), cancelled or returned.
- For a shipment: the name and address you give us for it, and, when you pay for its shipping by card, Stripe's reference for that payment. We never see or store your card number.
- A random reference for each time you press the button that places an order, kept with the order it placed, so that a press sent twice places one order.
Messages
- The messages you send and receive, as they were delivered. Before a confirmed booking or stay, or before a vendor or a walker accepts your request, that means with contact details hidden, and we don't keep the hidden text.
- Who sent each message and when, how many details were hidden, when each person last read the conversation, when we last emailed each person about a new message in it, and what it is about: a yard, a sitter's profile, a vendor's profile, a walker's profile or a groomer's profile.
Reviews, reports and feedback
- Reviews: your star rating, your yes-or-no answers about the yard, your public text, any private note to the host, host replies, hosts' reviews of guests, and owners' reviews of sitters, of vendors, of walkers and of groomers: a star rating and any words. An owner's review of a walker also keeps the walker's account, whether the plan was walks on dates the owner chose or the same walks every week, and when the review was sent.
- Reports: who made the report, what it's about (a listing, host, guest or message), the reason, the details given, any booking or conversation it relates to, and how we resolved it.
- Beta feedback: your note, the kind of note, the page you sent it from, your account, and whether you're a guest, host or administrator. We don't copy your name or email into it.
Technical and usage information
- Analytics events from your browser, described in section 3.
- Our server logs. They record what happened, such as a booking being confirmed or an email being sent, with booking, yard and Stripe reference numbers, error codes and timings. A few account events about payouts and memberships include an account ID. Email logs record the recipient's email domain (such as gmail.com) and which kind of email it was, but not the email address or the subject line. We design our logs to leave out email addresses, names, message text and card details.
- Our hosting provider, Google Cloud, also logs basic information about each request to our servers, such as your IP address, your browser's user agent, the address of the page requested and the time.
- Daily counts of some actions on your account (reservations, messages, new conversations, reports and feedback), so we can enforce limits.
- Records of what Paw Hub's administrators do, such as approving listings, cancelling bookings, handling reports, banning accounts, opening a conversation for review, and hiding or removing a review, with who did it, when and why.
Cookies and browser storage
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 14 days. It's marked httpOnly, so scripts on the page can't read it.
- Firebase Authentication keeps your sign-in in your browser's storage (IndexedDB or local storage) until you sign out.
- When analytics are on, a random ID for the current browser tab, kept in session storage, which your browser clears when you close the tab. We use it only to limit how many events one tab can send, and we don't log it.
- Stripe's script loads on a yard page after you pick a time, and on the payment form. Stripe may set its own cookies and collect information about your device to prevent fraud.
- Your Shop basket is kept in your browser's storage, on your device, and isn't sent to us until you place an order. An address you type for a shipment is kept in that browser tab until the order it was typed for is placed, or you sign out.
- Google Analytics counts visits for us and sets its own cookies to do it — but only if your browser hasn't asked not to be measured (section 3). It isn't used to advertise to you, and we don't use advertising cookies. We do use it to see which of our own ads brought visits (section 3).
3. Analytics
- We measure a small set of steps to see where booking gets stuck: a yard page being viewed, a time being picked, checkout opening, sign-in being shown and whether it worked, a password reset being asked for (with Firebase's error code when it gave one), going back to finish a booking you were holding, a reservation or payment being started, how long the payment form took to load or whether it failed to load, whether a payment went through (with an error code if it didn't), and how long the confirmation took to appear.
- These events can include a yard's reference number, the visit length and number of dogs, the payment method type, whether you were signed in, and whether you were using an in-app browser. They don't include your name, email address, account ID, IP address, message text or the page address, and they don't use a cookie. Our hosting provider's request logs, described above, still record the request that carries them.
- We also count when something goes wrong in your browser, such as a button whose request didn't reach us or an error on the page. A report says only which part of the site it happened on, what kind of failure it was, whether you were using an in-app browser and whether the error came from our own code. It never includes the error's text, the page address or who you are.
- The events go to our own server, which writes them to our logs. We don't save them in our database.
- Separately, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people use. It runs in your browser, sets its own cookies, and gives Google the address and title of the public page you're on — such as the home page, Explore, a city, a yard, a sitter's page, a vendor's page, a walker's page or a groomer's page, sometimes with the visit you were choosing (its date, length and number of dogs) — the page or website you came from, your device and browser, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. If you arrive through a link in one of our own ads, Google is also told which ad brought you: where it ran (Meta or Google), that it was a paid ad, and the names of the ad and its campaign as written in the link. Only names made of lowercase letters, digits and underscores are passed on; anything else in the link is removed before Google's script loads. It is switched off on checkout, on every signed-in part of the site (your visits, stays and requests, pet waste removal series, walk plans, grooms, messages, your account, hosting and admin pages) and on any address that carries something you typed, such as a postal code search. It never receives your name, email address or account ID, or anything you write that isn't already published on that page. Google processes it for us under their own terms (policies.google.com/privacy). We don't use Google's advertising features, and nothing we send it is used to build an advertising profile.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, it sends no analytics events at all — and the Google Analytics tag is never loaded, so it sets no cookie.
4. How we use information
- To run your account and sign you in.
- To show listings and sitters', vendors', walkers' and groomers' profiles, hold times, take bookings and requests, authorize and charge cards, check that a sitter's days stay within their limits, find the vendors who serve your postal code, save your card for a series and charge it for each visit done, find the walkers whose walking area reaches the place you search, keep a walker's walks from overlapping, save your card for a walk plan and charge it for each week before its walks, refund walks that are skipped or not walked, find the groomers whose place is near the place you search or who travel to it, keep a groomer's grooms from overlapping, refund grooms that are cancelled, reduced or stopped, process payments and refunds, pay hosts, sitters, vendors, walkers and groomers, and show them their earnings.
- To send service emails: booking confirmations (with the address and a calendar invite, and the access instructions only for a visit less than 2 hours away), new-booking alerts to hosts, cancellations, a reminder 2 hours before a visit (with the address and access instructions), review requests, listing decisions, pet sitting requests, their answers, withdrawals, expiries and cancellations, stay confirmations (for house sitting and drop-in visits, the sitter's carries the owner's address), the emails about a sitter's checks, a pet waste removal request, its answer, withdrawal or lapse, the agreement for a series and an updated one when its price changes, a vendor on their way, a visit marked done (with a link to its photo), a visit's charge or payout cancelled, a card removed, a problem reported, a new price to accept, a series ending, a vendor's insurance certificate ending, a dog walking request, its answer, withdrawal or expiry, the agreement for a walk plan and each updated copy, a week charged, a walk's report (with a link to it), a walk skipped, cancelled or missed, a walk plan's card removed, a walk plan ending, a charge that didn't go through, a grooming request and its answer, withdrawal, lapse or expiry, the agreement for a groom, a groom cancelled, a reminder the day before a groom, a groom's report (with a link to it), a problem reported, and alerts about new messages (with a short preview). When you ask to reset your password, Firebase Authentication sends that email for us. One email we send isn't a service email: after a groom, unless you've turned it off, one reminder to book that groomer again. Apart from it, we don't send marketing email.
- To work out your Paw Points, add your welcome points, add your membership's points for each month you pay for, add points after a visit, take them back after a full refund or a dispute your bank decides for you, and show you how many you hold.
- To take and fulfil your Shop orders: hold the items while you check out, take the Paw Points they cost, confirm the order to you by email, email you when it ships, and get it to you. To arrange a pickup, we write to the email address on your account.
- To check sitters' identity and criminal record before their profiles go live, and to decide whether to approve them.
- To check the identity and criminal record of the person who holds a vendor's account when we ask for those checks, to check a vendor's insurance certificate if they send one, and to stop saying that it has been checked when it ends.
- To check the identity and criminal record of walkers before their profiles go live.
- To check the identity and criminal record of groomers before their profiles go live.
- To show a vendor the address, how to get in and your notes while your series has a visit for them to do, and to show you and the vendor the photo of your gate at each visit.
- To show a walker your address and access note once they accept, while your plan is active or paused and after it ends until its last week is closed, and to show you, the walker and our administrators each walk's report and photo.
- To show a groomer your address and your note on how to get there once they accept a groom at your home, on the groom's page, until the groom is closed; to show you the groomer's place once they accept a groom there; and to show you, the groomer and our administrators the groom's report and photo.
- To send you, once after a groom, a reminder to book that groomer again, unless you've turned reminders off or booked them again since.
- To deliver messages, and to hide contact details before a confirmed booking, stay or groom, or before a vendor or a walker accepts a request, in messages and in what a sitter, a vendor, a walker or a groomer sees of a request.
- To publish reviews and work out yard, sitter and vendor ratings, statistics and badges.
- To keep Paw Hub safe: reviewing listings, handling reports, enforcing daily limits, and suspending or banning accounts.
- To handle refund requests, disputes and chargebacks. If a guest disputes a payment, we may give Stripe the booking record, the guest's statements and the waiver acceptance record as evidence.
- To keep financial records, check them against Stripe, and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To find and fix problems and improve Paw Hub, using logs, analytics and feedback, and to see which of our own ads bring visitors.
By using Paw Hub, you agree to these uses. Some of them are needed to provide the service at all, such as showing a guest with a confirmed booking the yard's address.
5. What others can see
Anyone, without signing in
- Live yard listings: title, description, photos, city, size, fencing, disclosures, hazards, rules, amenities, prices, available times, ratings, statistics and badges.
- An approximate map location for each yard, placed 80 to 180 metres from the real location. It's chosen once for each place, when the first of its host's yards, sitter profile, walker profile or groomer profile is submitted or moved there, and every yard of theirs that comes to that place afterwards shows the same one.
- The host's first name and initials, when they started hosting, and whether their email is verified.
- Guest reviews of a yard, with the guest's first name, the month and year, the rating, the text and any reply from the host. Five-star reviews may also appear on our home page with the guest's first name and the yard's city.
- Yard photos, as resized copies without the location data a camera can add. The original files hosts upload aren't shown to anyone.
- Live sitters' profiles: headline, description, experience, skills, photos, the city, services, prices and limits, the days of the week each service is offered, ratings and reviews, and, while boarding or day care is offered, the facts about the sitter's home listed in section 2, including whether children live there, by age band. Whether the sitter also hosts a live yard on Paw Hub. Not the dates they're away, though a search for dates leaves out a sitter who is away or full on them, without saying which.
- The sitter's first name and initials, and when they started sitting.
- Owners' reviews of a sitter once published, with the owner's first name, the month and year, the rating and the words.
- An approximate map location for each sitter: the centre of the grid square, about 0.9 km across and 0.6 km from north to south, that holds the approximate location chosen for the sitter's home (the one a yard of theirs there already shows, if there is one; it can be in the square next to the home's). Every sitter whose approximate location is in that square gets the same point, and distances in search are measured from it, not from the home. It changes only if the sitter's address does. For house sitting and drop-in visits, how far the sitter travels.
- Live vendors' profiles: the business's name, description, the areas served, the days, how often, prices, how waste is disposed of, how tools are cleaned, any winter pause, ratings and reviews, and, while a certificate our staff have checked is current, that its insurance has been checked.
- Owners' reviews of a vendor once published, with the owner's first name, the month and year, the rating and the words.
- Live walkers' profiles: headline, description, experience, skills, profile photo, the city, prices, how many dogs a walk and which sizes, whether puppies, how far from home they walk, the days and hours they take walks, and ratings and reviews. Not the dates they're away.
- The walker's first name and initials, and when they started walking.
- Owners' reviews of a walker once published, with the owner's first name, the month and year, the rating and the words.
- An approximate map location for each walker, made as a sitter's is: the centre of the grid square, about 0.9 km across and 0.6 km from north to south, that holds the approximate location chosen for the walker's home (the one a yard or a sitter profile of theirs there already shows, if there is one; it can be in the square next to the home's). How far the walker walks is measured from it, not from the home. It changes only if the walker's address does.
- Live groomers' profiles: headline, description, experience, skills, profile photo and portfolio, the city, where they groom (a salon or a home studio, a van or in the home), what they need at an owner's home, how far they travel, services, prices and add-ons, how long each service takes, the sizes they take, how many dogs a groom and whether puppies, the days and hours they take appointments, how often they suggest a groom, and ratings and reviews. A salon's street, if the groomer writes it in their description. Not the dates they're away, though a search for a date leaves out a groomer who is away on it.
- The groomer's first name and initials, and when they started grooming on Paw Hub.
- Owners' reviews of a groomer once published, with the owner's first name, the month and year, the rating and the words.
- An approximate map location for each groomer, made as a sitter's is: the centre of the grid square, about 0.9 km across and 0.6 km from north to south, that holds the approximate location chosen for the groomer's place (the one a yard, a sitter profile or a walker profile of theirs there already shows, if there is one; it can be in the square next to the place's). How far the groomer travels, and the distances in search, are measured from it. It changes only if the groomer's address does.
The other person in a booking or conversation
- A host sees a guest's first name, their bookings (dates, times, number of dogs and extras), what the host earns from them, the note the guest wrote them at checkout (once the visit is paid), their messages, and their review, including any private note. A host doesn't see a guest's email address or their Paw Points.
- A guest with a confirmed booking sees the yard's exact address and a directions link, on the visit page and in emails, and its access instructions from 2 hours before the visit until 24 hours after it ends. A guest doesn't see a host's email address.
- A sitter sees, with a request sent to them: the owner's first name, the service, the times, the profile of each dog in it (without its vet's details), the owner's note, what the sitter would earn, and, for house sitting and drop-in visits, the city of the home and roughly how far it is. Until the stay is confirmed, contact details in the note and the profiles are hidden. Once it is confirmed, they see them as written, with each dog's vet's name and phone number and, for house sitting and drop-in visits, the address of the home. A sitter doesn't see an owner's email address, booking fee, plan or Paw Points.
- An owner with a confirmed boarding or day care stay sees the sitter's exact address and how to arrive, on the stay page (never in an email). An owner doesn't see a sitter's email address.
- A sitter sees an owner's review of their stay only once it's published, as anyone can. Until then only the owner and Paw Hub's administrators can read it.
- A vendor sees, with a request sent to them: the owner's first name, the town, how often, the number of dogs, the yard's size, the week to start, the vendor's own price for each visit, and the owner's note, with contact details hidden. Once the vendor accepts, and only while the series has a visit for them to do (while it is active, and after a pause or an end only for a visit that still goes ahead), they also see the address, how to get in, any gate code and the owner's notes. They also see the dates the owner skips, whether the series is paused and, for the owner's own pause, until when, whether each visit has been paid, any problem the owner reported (its kind, not their note), and the owner's review once published. A vendor doesn't see an owner's full name, email address, dogs' profiles, booking fee, plan or Paw Points.
- An owner sees the vendor's business name, the photo of the gate at each visit, when the vendor said they were on their way, the vendor's skips with their reasons, any new price the vendor proposes, and the vendor's messages. An owner doesn't see a vendor's email address, insurance certificate or business number.
- A walker sees, with a request sent to them: the owner's first name, the town and roughly how far it is, the walks, each dog's name, size and whether it is a puppy, the owner's note, and the walks' price before our commission. Until the walker accepts, contact details in the note and the dogs' names are hidden. Once they accept, they see them as written and, while the plan is active or paused and after it ends until its last week is closed, the address, the access note and where the leash and bags are. A walker doesn't see an owner's full name, email address, dogs' profiles, booking fee, plan or Paw Points.
- An owner sees the walker's first name and initials and profile, the walker's messages, and each walk's report and photo; and the walker's full name, in the agreement of a plan they request. An owner never sees a walker's address or email address.
- A groomer sees, with a request sent to them: the owner's first name, the date and time, where the groom is (for a groom at the owner's home, the town and roughly how far it is), the profile of each dog on it (without its vet's details), each dog's coat, matting, the answer for a matted coat, service and add-ons, the owner's note, and the groom's price before our commission. Until the groom is confirmed, contact details in the note and the profiles are hidden. Once it is confirmed, they see them as written, with each dog's vet's name and phone number, and, for a groom at the owner's home, the address and the note on how to get there, on the groom's page until the groom is closed. A groomer doesn't see an owner's full name, email address, booking fee, plan or Paw Points.
- An owner sees the groomer's first name and initials and profile, the groomer's messages, the groom's report and photo, a reduction or a stopped groom with its reason, and the groomer's full name, in the agreement of a groom they request. Once a groom at the groomer's place is confirmed, the owner sees its address, on the groom's page (never in an email). An owner never sees a groomer's address otherwise, or their email address.
- Messages are visible only to the two people in the conversation, and to Paw Hub's administrators when they open it to review a report, a booking, a stay, a walk plan or a groom. Each opening is logged.
6. Who we share information with
- The other person in a booking or conversation, as described in section 5.
- Google Cloud and Firebase host Paw Hub, store our database, photos and logs, handle sign-in (including the password reset email, when you ask for one), resize photos and run scheduled tasks.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple. If you use it, Apple knows you signed in to Paw Hub, and if you hide your email, Apple's relay forwards our emails to you.
- Certn runs sitters' identity and criminal record checks, when we ask it to. We give it a sitter's email address and the language they use Paw Hub in, and it collects the rest directly from them, under its own privacy policy.
- Google Maps Platform draws the maps on the Explore page and the pet sitting, pet waste removal, dog walking and grooming searches and the map images on yard, sitter, walker and groomer pages, turns postal code and city searches, hosts', sitters', walkers' and groomers' addresses, and the address an owner gives for house sitting, drop-in visits, dog walking or a groom at their home into map coordinates, and shows directions if you open a directions link. When a map loads, Google receives your IP address, our site's address (and, for the maps on Explore and the searches, which of our pages it's on) and the area shown; a search's map is centred on the place you searched for.
- Resend, an email delivery service, sends our other emails from paw-hub.co, so it receives each recipient's address and the message. Replies to those emails go to a Gmail inbox, so Google handles them.
- Stripe processes payments, refunds, authorizations held on a card until a sitter or a groomer answers, memberships, host onboarding and payouts, saves a card for a pet waste removal series and charges it for each visit done, and saves a card for a walk plan and charges it for each week before its walks. We give Stripe payment amounts, booking reference numbers and account IDs, the name and email on your account to fill in its payment form, and, if you host, your name and email to set up your Stripe account. When your Stripe account is made, we also give it Paw Hub's own sentence saying what you offer and that you are paid through Paw Hub, with a category code, by what you offer then: renting your yard to dog owners, for recreation services, if you have a yard or offer nothing else yet; caring for dogs as a pet sitter, for personal services, if you offer pet sitting and have no yard; walking dogs in owners' neighbourhoods, for personal services, if you offer dog walking with no yard or pet sitting; grooming dogs at your place or at owners' homes, for personal services, if you offer grooming with no yard, pet sitting or dog walking; and cleaning up dog waste in owners' yards, for cleaning services, if pet waste removal is all you offer. Once your yard's, sitter's, vendor's, walker's or groomer's page is open to everyone, we give Stripe its address as your website. Stripe's payment form loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Stripe handles your information under its own privacy policy.
- A delivery service. When a Shop order is shipped, the service that carries it is given the name and address on it.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may share information to follow the law or a court order, answer lawful requests from authorities, handle a dispute or chargeback, prevent fraud, or protect someone's safety or rights.
- A business transfer. If Paw Hub is sold, merged or reorganized, personal information may go to the new owner, who must protect it as this policy describes.
We don't sell personal information. Google's privacy policy explains how Google handles information.
7. Where your information is stored
- Paw Hub stores personal information in the United States. Our database, photo storage, hosting and logs are in Google Cloud's Northern Virginia region (us-east4).
- Google, Stripe, Certn and our email provider may also process information in other countries.
- Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of the country where it is, and courts or authorities there may be able to access it.
8. How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account is open.
- Sign-in links: about an hour after the last link for an address was asked for.
- Listings and photos: while the listing exists. When a photo is removed, we delete the file and its resized copies.
- Where your listings have been (section 2): while the listing exists. When a listing is removed, the places it has been are forgotten, except a place another listing of yours has been at too.
- Sitters' profiles, their photos and the facts about their homes: while the profile exists, including while it is taken off the site. When a profile is deleted, its photos and their resized copies, and its conversations, go with it.
- Vendors' profiles: while the profile exists, including while it is paused or taken off the site. When a profile is deleted, its conversations go with it. Insurance certificates, including ones that have ended or been taken off, and a business number: while the profile exists.
- Walkers' profiles, their photo, their full name and their home's address: while the profile exists, including while it is taken off the site. When a profile is deleted, its photo's resized copies and its conversations go with it. The record of a walker's checks: as for sitters' checks.
- Groomers' profiles, their photos and their place's address: while the profile exists, including while it is taken off the site. When a profile is deleted, its photos' resized copies and its conversations go with it. The record of a groomer's checks: as for sitters' checks.
- Dogs' profiles: until you delete them, or your account is closed. The copy kept with each request stays with that booking's records.
- Bookings, payments, payouts, the financial ledger, statements about dogs, waiver acceptances and records of administrator actions: kept as long-term records, because we need them for refunds, disputes, legal claims, tax and accounting. The ledger, waiver acceptances and administrator records aren't edited or deleted in normal operation.
- The record of a sitter's checks, through Certn or by our staff: kept as a long-term record, and not deleted with the profile. That a check was ordered, made by hand or withdrawn, by whom and when, is one of our records of administrator actions (above), which never says what a check found. Certn keeps its own records as its policy says.
- The record of the checks of the person who holds a vendor's account: as for sitters' checks.
- The walks a walker has accepted, by weekday or date and time: while their plan lasts, and removed the next time the list changes once they have passed or their plan has ended.
- An owner's address for house sitting or drop-in visits: with the stay's records, like a booking's other details.
- The address of a pet waste removal series, how to get in, any gate code and your notes: until the request is withdrawn, declined or expires, or until the series has ended and its last visit can no longer be marked done, then deleted.
- Gate photos: kept with the visit's records.
- Pet waste removal series and visits, and the agreement's record: kept as long-term records, like bookings. The dates skipped, with who skipped and why, and when the vendor said they were on their way: removed from the series once a date's visit can no longer be marked done, the next time a date is skipped, a pause ends or the vendor says they're on their way; what is left when a series ends stays with its record.
- The address of a walk plan, its access note and your notes about your home: until the request is withdrawn, declined or expires, or until the plan has ended and its last week is closed, then deleted.
- Walk photos: about 180 days after the walk, then deleted, or longer while a dispute about its week's payment is open.
- Walk plans, their weeks and each walk's report but its photo (its times, ticks and the walker's note), and the agreement's record: kept as long-term records, like bookings.
- The grooms a groomer has accepted, by date and time: removed the next time the list changes once they have passed or been cancelled.
- The address of a groom at an owner's home and the note on how to get there: until the request is withdrawn, declined, lapses or expires, or until the groom is closed, then deleted.
- Grooms' photos: about 180 days after the groom, then deleted, or longer while a dispute about its payment is open.
- Grooms and their reports but the photo (the groomer's note, each dog's coat and matting answer, the times), and the agreement's record: kept as long-term records, like bookings.
- Your choice about reminders to book a groom again, and when each was sent: while your account is open.
- Messages: as long as either person in the conversation still has an account, because they're the record for support and disputes. When a yard, or a sitter's, a vendor's, a walker's or a groomer's profile, is deleted, its conversations go with it.
- Reviews: kept with the yard's or the sitter's records. Published reviews show on the page while it's listed. A sitter's reviews are deleted with the sitter's profile. When we remove a review, its rating and words are deleted at once; we keep only that it was sent, so the stay can't be reviewed again.
- Reviews of a vendor: kept while the vendor's profile exists.
- Reviews of a walker: deleted with the walker's profile.
- Reviews of a groomer: deleted with the groomer's profile.
- Reports and feedback: as long as we need them to handle the issue and keep Paw Hub safe.
- Paw Points: your points and the record of how you earned them are kept with your account. What each booking earned is kept with the booking.
- Shop orders: kept as long-term records, like bookings and payments, with the record of the Paw Points each one spent or returned.
- Daily action counts: kept with your account records.
- Logs: for a limited time set by our hosting provider.
- Backups: our database can be restored to any point in the last 7 days, and daily backups are kept for 7 weeks. Information deleted from Paw Hub can stay in backups until they expire.
9. How we protect information
- Our providers encrypt data in transit and at rest.
- Browsers can't read or change our database or file storage directly. Everything goes through our servers, with four exceptions: the two people in a conversation can read its summary (such as a preview of the latest message and unread counts) to get live updates, hosts upload their own yard photos, sitters upload their own profile photos, and anyone can load the resized copies of yard, sitter, walker and groomer photos.
- A yard's exact address and access instructions are shown only to its host, to guests with a confirmed booking (on the visit page and in their emails; the access instructions from 2 hours before the visit until 24 hours after it ends), and to Paw Hub's administrators. A sitter's exact address is shown only to the sitter, to the owner of a confirmed or completed boarding or day care stay (on the stay page, never in an email), and to Paw Hub's administrators; the address of an owner's home for house sitting or drop-in visits only to the owner, to the sitter of a confirmed or completed stay (on the stay page and in their confirmation email), and to Paw Hub's administrators. The pages that show them tell browsers and networks not to store them.
- The address of a pet waste removal series, how to get in, any gate code and the photos of its gate are shown only to its owner, to its vendor while the series has a visit for them to do, and to Paw Hub's administrators. The pages that show them tell browsers and networks not to store them.
- The address of a walk plan and its access note are shown only to its owner, to its walker while the plan is active or paused and after it ends until its last week is closed, and to Paw Hub's administrators, and never emailed to the walker (the owner's own copy of the agreement has the address). The photos of its walks are shown only to its owner, its walker and Paw Hub's administrators, and never put in an email. A walker's address is shown only to the walker and Paw Hub's administrators. The pages that show them tell browsers and networks not to store them.
- The address of a groom at an owner's home and the note on how to get there are shown only to the owner, to the groomer once the groom is confirmed, until it is closed, and to Paw Hub's administrators, and never emailed to the groomer (the owner's own copy of the agreement has the address). A groomer's address is shown only to the groomer, to Paw Hub's administrators and, for their place, to the owner of a confirmed groom there, on the groom's page and never in an email. A groom's photo is shown only to its owner, its groomer and Paw Hub's administrators, and never put in an email. The pages that show them tell browsers and networks not to store them.
- Your sign-in cookie can't be read by scripts on the page.
- Administrators can read a conversation only by opening it for a specific report, booking, stay, walk plan or groom, and each opening is logged.
- No system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
10. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. There's no editing of your account's details in the app yet (if you sign in with Google or Apple, your name comes from that account), so email us. You can change or delete your dogs' profiles yourself. A sitter can change their profile until they send it for review; a vendor, most of a live profile (not the business's name, kind or number, or insurance our staff have checked); a walker, a live profile but its photo and home address; and a groomer, a live profile but its photos and its address (its unit can change). For the rest of a profile, or to delete one, email us. An owner can change a series' notes on how to get in and about the dogs while it runs, and a walk plan's access note, themselves.
- Deletion. You can't delete your account in the app yet. Email us and we'll delete or de-identify what we can. We keep what we need for bookings, payments and payouts, waiver acceptances and statements, disputes and chargebacks, and tax and accounting, and we'll tell you what we kept.
- Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual limits. Some withdrawals mean we can't keep providing the service, such as taking bookings.
- Analytics. Turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser, and it won't send analytics events — and no Google Analytics tag will load.
- Cookies and storage. You can clear or block them in your browser, but you need the sign-in cookie and browser storage to stay signed in.
- Emails. Our service emails carry your bookings, messages and account notices, and there's no setting to turn them off. The reminder to book a groom again is the one email that isn't a service email: each one has a link to stop these reminders, which works without signing in, and you can turn them off or back on from your account page. We stop them at once, and always within 10 business days.
- How to ask. Email our Privacy Officer at kfraidine@gmail.com. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you, for example by asking you to write from the email address on your account. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Complaints. Please contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
11. Children
Paw Hub is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A sitter tells us whether children live in their home only by age band, and we never ask about them otherwise. If you think someone under 18 has an account, email us and we'll close it.
12. Changes to this policy
The version date at the top shows when this policy last changed. If we make a material change, we'll tell you by email or on Paw Hub before it takes effect.
